Creating Value by Removing Waste

To improve your business, you need to increase value whilst reducing wasteful activity. The solution is to invest and up-skill your management team and staff to improve the customer experience. The problem is, less than 1 in every 5 people in a management role is professionally qualified (Wilton et al, 2007) and up to 50% of business activity is wasteful and of no value (Womack et al, 2007). 

The gap is one of competency (see chart below), having the skills to perform the task required. The solution is management training.

A motivator to successful management training, is the undertaking of a pre-training self-efficacy assessment where gaps in ability and knowledge can be broadly outlined before embarking on the training course/development programme. By doing this you are giving the need for training a context and a reason. It becomes a means to an end and not just an end in itself. Closing the competency gap is the simplest way to improve business performance. A Pre-training self-efficacy assessment is the simplist way to identify management development needs.
